Supporting your child’s reading development.
School Library System
Our school is strongly committed to improving literacy and we know the importance of reading for pleasure. There is good evidence to suggest that children who read for pleasure every day perform better in reading tests [and often other tests] than their friends who do not read on a daily basis. This is why we want to encourage children to read a wide range of books and material.
School has made a significant investment in our library with new storage, books and an on-line version of our school catalogue. The system allows children and parents to see what books we have. Children are encouraged to use this to support their learning and research, to write reviews about books they have read and search for new books they may not have realised school has.
The on line system has a fantastic feature called ‘ Who Next’ which recommends new books and authors based on the books your child has read. You can use this feature at home to help your child select their next book.
You can access the system via the school website or directly using this link
If you have access to an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch then you can download the App, from the App Store, called iMLS to access the library from those devices.
If you would like details of your child’s username and password so that you can use the new app and also track their reading and borrowing pattern please contact school.
We hope you find the facility useful and as always please feel free to let us know your thoughts and ideas for further development.
