Admission to school and nursery.


I am really pleased that you may be considering a place at our school or nursery for your child.

This is one of the most important decisions you have to make and I want to help you make the right choice in any way I can.

At our school we don't have 'open days' because we want you to see us as we are.

If you would like to look around our nursery or school please contact the school office and we will gladly make a time to show you around.

Our admissions criteria is  

  1. Looked after children.
  2. Children who have a brother or sister attending the school at the time of admission. A brother or sister is any child living at the same address.
  3. Baptized children, of a church which is a member of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, whose parents wish them to attend a church school.
  4. Children living closest to school measured in a straight line as determined by the Local Authority.


***Please remember, if you want to submit supporting evidence including birth certificates, baptism and christening certificates, when requesting a school place it is parents responsibility to ensure school receives a copy, even if an application has been made ‘on line’.***

If your child attends our nursery you MUST still complete an admission form for school at the right time.

Timetable for admissions to Primary School 2019-20

 Admission information available. On-line application service opens.   5th November 2018
 Closing date for applications. On-line application service closes.  15th January 2019
 Wigan Council sends details of applications to other local authorities.  4th February 2019

 Own admission authority schools that rank their own application. 

 Wigan Council sends details of all applications to schools (including   applications from other local authorities).  4th March 2019
 Schools return ranked lists by.  18th March 2019

 Own admission authority schools that rank use Council's ranking   service.

 Wigan Council sends ranked lists for approval.  15th March 2019
 School return approved lists by.  21st March 2019
 Wigan Council informs other local authorities of offers to be made to   their residents.  22nd March 2019
 Wigan Council sends final lists of pupils offered places to Wigan schools   and other local authorities.  5th April 2019
 National offer day.  16th April 2019
 Parents to return acceptance slips for offer of school places.  7th May 2019
 Closing date for appeals.  21st May 2019

For parents

With effect from 1 December 2015, all initial contacts to the department from parents regarding school admissions will be dealt with by Wigan Council’s Contact Centre.
